CMA Leadership Pays Tribute

Mr. Feka served as Archdiocesan President of the Catholic Men Association in Yaoundé, a role through which he became widely known as a disciplined and committed lay leader. Paying tribute on behalf of the association, Mr. Okie Johnson, National President of the CMA, described the late leader as “a man who understood leadership as service and who remained loyal to the Church even when responsibility demanded sacrifice.”

According to Mr. Johnson, Christopher Njuakom Feka’s life remains “a reference point for Catholic men striving to unite faith, accountability, and responsibility in both Church and society.”

Biographical Background

Biographical information shared during the funeral celebrations was drawn from a special memorial magazine produced in his memoriam. The publication presents Mr. Feka as a man of solid academic formation and professional stability, who remained deeply conscious of God’s role in his achievements. His academic, social, and material successes, the magazine notes, were never seen as personal conquests but as gifts entrusted to him for service.

Born on January 1, 1960, in Molyko, Buea, he lived a life marked by steady commitment to family, work, and the Church until his passing on January 2, 2026.

Funeral Mass and Homily

The Funeral Mass was marked by Scripture readings that framed death within Christian hope. Preaching during the celebration, Father Cletus Ashu Amah reflected on the reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1–8, which affirms that there is a time for every purpose under heaven. He emphasized that human life unfolds within divine timing, known fully only to God.

Drawing from Romans 8:31–39, Father Cletus reminded the faithful that nothing, not even death, can separate believers from the love of God in Christ. He presented the life of Mr. Feka as one lived in active faithfulness rather than perfection.

Vigilance Highlighted During Wake

The theme of Christian vigilance had already been stressed the previous evening, Friday, January 30, 2026, during the Wake Keep Mass at Saint Joseph Anglophone Parish, Mvog-Ada, Yaoundé. Preaching at that Mass, Father Zephyrinus Mbu urged the faithful to remain spiritually prepared, recalling the Gospel call to keep one’s lamp burning in readiness for the Lord’s return.

This call to readiness resonated strongly with the circumstances of Mr. Feka’s death, which occurred as he was fulfilling a family responsibility, an act interpreted by preachers as consistent with honorable Christian living.

Family and Christian Witness

Throughout the burial rites, attention was drawn to the family foundation that sustained Mr. Feka’s public engagement. Special mention was made of Dr. Stella Feka, his wife, whose presence alongside their children and relatives underscored the central role of family in his Christian witness.

Final Commendation

As the Church committed Christopher Njuakom Feka to God’s mercy, prayers were offered for the repose of his soul and the consolation of his family. For members of the Catholic Men Association and the wider Christian community, his death serves as a reminder of the Gospel call to faithful service, vigilance, and hope in the resurrection.

His life, remembered through liturgy and the memorial publication dedicated to him, continues to speak as a call to live responsibly within the time God grants, while remaining ready for His call.
